Cynicism and the buggy codes of life ⇒ Kirno Sohochari

Nikhilesh, just visit one to see how I’m living,
Is it human-birth? Or the end…
Playing dice of the priest-skeleton each evening
Wind whirls amidst my heart, blood
disdained this heart; I seated beside man’s feet doggie,
for seeing the dog living inside himself.
[Partial translation: How I’m living by Sunil Gangopadhyay]

Cynicism, a silent denial of the vivid nuisance, may appear disturbing for the members who used to follow some moral codes of life. A man cannot survive lonely. He needs a connection for his self-survival and protection. Sometime it could be essential for humans staying alone, but it only some time and not evermore. Man cannot stay alone evermore, he needs an association to survive. As Aristotle once manifested in ‘Politics’: “ Man is by nature a social animal; an individual who is unsocial naturally and not accidentally is either beneath our notice or more than human. Society is something that precedes the individual. Anyone who either cannot lead the common life or is so self-sufficient as not to need to, and therefore does not partake of society, is either a beast or a god.” Aristotle’s social association is essential for the people who want to lead in his position as a survivor; whereof the cynical approach going reverse to all these Aristotelian essentials.

Diogenes, Jean-Léon_Gérôme_1

The art of cynicism could comparable to the deftly taken photograph. An artful photograph silently disbursed its energy by using a brilliant rendition of light and shadows. Usual meaning and fixity of the photographed subject here confined itself through unexpected metaphors. Cynical words and maxims contained the same photographic tempera where unexpected metaphors help a cynic to realize the predefined societal norms. He then burst with irony against all these conventional approaches and so-called guardian manners. Cynicism feels comfortable carried substantial words inside; not eventual that it could sound disturbing and blasphemous to the man who judges himself a patrolman of the societal actions; which, a cynical approach do not hesitate to break instantly with sarcasm.

Cynicism may have a variety of routes and diversions. Sometimes it looked analogical with pessimism, where the cynical approach of a man disclosed with anti-establishment anger. Denounce of social action probably appeared there a weapon to deny or neglect any despotic chain of social bonding. A cynic is the rater of society’s Modus operandi, which generally controlled by the guardian of the society. He doesn’t bother or caring who said what about him. He is the self-declared criticizer of social norms, usually has been taken by the operators in excuse of societal safety, unity or mobility. Cynic offering him as a carefully careless watchdog of that guardianship. He doesn’t believe society is honest to its objective of ensuring justice and oneness for all living members. So we can say, a cynic is a self-proclaimed critic and rejector of moral codes and its application in societal life.

… Cynicism divided society in genuine and hoax, where cynic always signified his position with simplicity and naturalism. Whether it’s true or not is a different context, but cynical insolence feels comfort to see that, people treat a cynic troublemaker for their habitual life-burden. He gets pleasure because it serves his core objective that social bonding and unification is the other name of fraudulent, where real face lost its identity in a masquerade.

Criticism is another term that appears as a medication for the cynic. He takes the pill for the sake of his self-resilience narcissism, which he thinks can survive him to the epidemic societal hoax. The self-pride of a cynic, in other words, his only lifeline that could save him to the mimesis, as other people in a society often lost their individuality due to this. He wanted to exist in a society standing on his own free will; and, habitual of avoiding the prearranged social patterns. This man thinks himself a victim of pre-arranged and insipid collective life. Such recognition inspired him to appear as a critic of the imposed social chain he denies. Chain belongs everywhere but a cynical approach tried to tear apart this through its self-rejection process, where criticism appeared a lethal weapon for the cynic.

The moral ground of a cynic could be this, he disparaged the self-made moral action of humans. He believes every moral action through societal guardianship increased division among classes and permanently seized human-soul parroting some ascribed moral preconditions. Which he considers a disciplined punishment for free-living and self quest. A true cynic believes every moral action that happened in the society, it reversely imprisoned the human mind in a permanent dichotomy. People live in a society where the existence of good action is conditional and usually rated by the opposite bad reaction. Societal good meant vis-à-vis action and reaction of positive and negative forces, likely echoing the followed diagram:

Human society cannot consider an action legal in the absence of illegal. A positive move for society depends on the negative first to prove its true existence. That means positive action could never have existed without negative, whereas values of ‘goodwill, honesty and so on’ rated by the active presence of ‘bad will, dishonesty and so on’.

Yonder dependency-chain indicates, the model of human society based on the reverse order of ‘doing a bad thing first to achieve good thing’. If the presence of negative action is essential for positive, then how it possible ensures equality, justice, and peace for all society members? The question may sound ambiguous, but cynic takes it a valid reason to examine the moral objective of societal norms and conditions. He thinks people fight against slavery and disparity and often they forget to fight against the system that repeatedly parroting to follow the synthetic moral codes without obligation. Human society builds a system to avoid the basic animalism that exists as well in human nature.

Cynicism discovers its attachment to animalism. Human is likewise animal, but they prefer a distance to other animals. The moral codes of humankind individualize its status noble than the animal. Animalistic behavior or its presence in any human hoarding treated negatively in yonder definition. It doesn’t prefer to see animalistic behavior in a human posture. Violent behavior of a person always compared with animals and treated badly to the societal buddies.

… man is not more noble and honest than any other beasts. A street dog is perhaps more honest than any self-proclaimed civilized person. Human species through its journey to the civilization divide Nature living world into savage vs. civilized and progressed vs. regressed; it was perhaps not necessary because every creature is organic with its natural instinctive survival.

Behave like animals are obscene in the human’s world; they use swear-words symbolizes the obscenity of yonder person. Swear-words often applied there relating animal’s natural behavior. An animal is not liable for this behavior; his behavior reflects some organic features he adapted from the long race of evolution. Humans do often well concerned about the fact, even though they frequently use swear-words relating animals. ‘Son of a bitch, Fucking Bastard, Dirty Pig, Doggie Asshole, Swine Beast, Filthy Brute’ and thousands of other words applied by humans to mark the heinous activity of that target person in a society.

Human beings feel discomfort in the animal’s behavioral context. They measured them as intelligent, advanced, progressive, civilized and divine comparing other Nature’s creation. Civilized human is mercurial to omit the chapter where some members of the society tried to remind the truth that human was also apeman in the remotest part. Yes, they were the part of this wild and savage kingdom; evolved and developed here according to natural evolution and genetic adaptation. The genetic subset (DNA Sharing) of Hominid keeps similarity with apes; even they maintained great similarity to the remotest mammals and reptiles, despite their eye-catching progress in the course of civilization. Some curious members of human society discovered the sequencing that signals the analogical features of humans and animals, where the ratio of DNA sharing indicates closeness between humans and other animal species.

Yonder similarity doesn’t mean human species is only the copycat of pictured animals. It indicates the organic orchestration and coherence of Nature’s creations. They evolved in Nature possessed common genetic features, but the adaptation happened in a different context. Pictured animals adapted through Natural Selection by maintained their aptitude and capability towards adaptation, so it sounds unfair to declare human race noble and rest is heinous; because human-science yet not solidifies how all other Natural creations think and communicate among themselves, or what is their opinion about this self-proclaimed nobleness of human. Cynicism, not regularly but sometimes reminds the fact quoting human-made moral definition on Human and Humanity, Manhood and Womanhood, Virility and Humanism, and even Animalism too.

The progress of human moral codes meanwhile designed it going against the nature-oriented animalism, even though many common things even exist between human and its descent ancestral partner. Chimps and Humans not only share the same DNA set but also came from the common ancestral root. The similarity between chimps and humans is yet eye-striking, as Kate Mulcahy mentioned in her articleShe mentioned ten similar capacities of two great species. According to Kate’s analysis, both species are identical in some common capacities what she picturized in a reversal order:

10. Number of Species; 9. DNA sequencing; 8. Brain Size; 7. Sociability; 6. Language and Facial Expressions; 5. Diet; 4. Sex life; 3. Walking upright; 2. Eyes; and 1. Tool uses.

The human species advanced far using its organic features if we consider chimp’s progress to the parallel. This progress could help humans to survive better but it’s not logical to think that the human race is more grandeur than chimps or other animals; rather it is far reasonable to consider the risk factors may appear later as the main reason for human-extinctions to this planet. Comparable words such as the ‘God and Evil’, ‘Good and Bad’, ‘Divine and Heinous’, ‘Progressed and Regressed’ etc. are not created hereby chimps or any other species, because nature is impartial to that wording.

Life also social in Nature but different from the moral-bonded togetherness of human society; in Nature, nothing played a center to take-over others. Humanism and animalism work maintaining a separate conception.

Animalism acts beyond the yonder comparison. Nothing is good or bad in Nature. Everything there goes just organic. Nature-evolved beings follow the sequences of struggle, resist haunting, fighting, breeding, lovemaking and finally adaptation for the sake of self-survival. Life also social in Nature but different from the moral-bonded togetherness of human society; in Nature, nothing played a center to take-over others. Humanism and animalism work maintaining a separate conception. Animalism is the absence of centeredness. Actions rotate there in cyclic order without any presence of nucleus nature. This autonomy makes useless the necessity of reversal moral codes, created by human society later. Inborn animalism defined itself with a simple equation and that is:Cynicism_2

Cynical pessimism tried to remind the impartial state of natural life by its anarchic wording.

1.2
Cynicism has a deep similarity with anarchism. A cynic is not anarchic in his lifestyle perception, even he sometimes criticizing anarchism due to its blind force of destruction, but his stoical approach contained anarchic desire. Both of them have driven by the agony and wanted to be free from the prearranged chain of societal manipulation. Distinction between cynic and anarchist is sheer, one (anarchist) tried to reorganize the society by proposed new law and order, whereas another (cynic) tried to swim in the order that is stoical to obey any order or discipline in a society, because order and disorder in here embraced the same fate at ending.

Yes, cynicism appeared once the key provocateur of stoicism. Life deserves little for living life, but the progression of the human civilization made the little giant. The root cause of all evil desires might incline there. Anarchists often try to manipulate it; the stoic ignores it taking an impartial stance to that desire; and, a cynic just mocking it takes satirical postures. The followers of three isms played their rule in human society as a chatterbox. They lived here to live an individual life instead of social. Their action reflects the eagerness of freed for forever. It reminded the biblical past when Adam and Eve once freed in God’s Garden before provoked by evil curiosity and desire.

Cynic tries to be free from the approved definition of human-society. He denied Aristotle’s definition according to his recognition that, man is not more noble and honest than any other beasts. A street dog is perhaps more honest than any self-proclaimed civilized person. Human species through its journey to the civilization divide Nature living world into savage vs. civilized and progressed vs. regressed; it was perhaps not necessary because every creature is organic with its natural instinctive survival. Dog follows the organic rules of Nature. This four-footed animal never tries to manipulate the rule as humankind does to prove its grand excellence amid others. Self-deceptive moral codes of humans applied to dominate others, even within the human race too.

A dog perhaps deserves excellence if we consider the self-deception and self-controversy of any resident in human society. The human being dedicates his life chase behind the false moral codes only for self-gratification and domination. Humanism perhaps more deceptive than animalism, since the animal is in-cognizant about the dual binary perception of God and evil, true and false, civilized and savage, theist and atheist, rich and poor, honest and dishonest and many other moral-oriented binary contradiction of human intelligence. All this intelligence gave him nothing but a pretentious claim that “Man is above all true, and nothing is rest above him”.

1.3
Cynical stance sometimes played a positive rule in society. It appeared revolutionary where society motivated by cynical approach and tried to leave conventional moral codes for societal sake. However, most of the time a cynical approach creates nuisances and that’s why discarded by other society members. The reason is simple there; people always prefer safety rather than revolt. They attracted by the stance of cynic or anarchist, feel amused to see stoic, but rarely felt the urge to act like them. Civilization is cliché resonance of systematic order, discipline, and punishment, where every action is predefined according to the table of contents. The human creature is bound to follow the index chart, in where one life decisive positive action depends on the life-threatening negative action, where human means:

The cynical approach considers this state genuine for humans and tried to stay on the equal state, as Diogenes once tried to living the state despite his rage and criticism against the societal hoax. Cynicism divided society in genuine and hoax, where cynic always signified his position with simplicity and naturalism.

1.4
Cynicism mirroring identity crisis. It could be comparable with the well-intentioned painting. The meaning of the painting object dismissed common perception by taking an allegorical approach. A cynic person might appear here not to resonate ‘as usual’; in lieu of, he twisted any kind of as usual meaning or practice of life. He outwardly looked negative and people dislike him for his outspoken negativity, but inwardly he motivated by the positive spirit criticizing the fraudulent behavior of humans. It’s a process of reading frozen silence, an interpretation of muted mutes, and a polyphonic conversation of tacit action has done by human creatures.

Cynicism can pull out the tacit action that we hesitate to deliver. Sometimes it appeared essential to asses the buggy codes of life, to rectify the cliché resonance as well. The world is noisy and loaded by the myriad actions of life. A majority of the action is customary and worm-eaten, needed here to bear life unto the end. Few among this keep values to justify the purpose of life and soon swilled by worm before disappear forever. Out of the majority, sparse of them is essential to consider the objective of life but disturbing for social people to legalize their validity on this planet.

… Humanism perhaps more deceptive than animalism, since the animal is in-cognizant about the dual binary perception of God and evil, true and false, civilized and savage, theist and atheist, rich and poor, honest and dishonest and many other moral-oriented binary contradiction of human intelligence. All this intelligence gave him nothing but a pretentious claim that “Man is above all true, and nothing is rest above him”.

Disturbing cynical words often born on our surface due to the moral action we applied to rule society. They are flying in the air, swimming into the ocean, crashing to the mountain and floating in the timeless space of mind. They consider sparse and dual because these words contained the literally simple and allegorically infinite meaning of life. They usually stayed amid noise and silence and tried to cross the hurdle of time-and-space. Cynical words not born here to convey the routine resonance, not intended to serve the noisy purposes of daily life, instead, they keep silence answering all noise and resonance so we can realize the core meaning of creation happened on this planet.

Jean-Léon Gérôme’s famous painting of ‘Diogenes sitting in his tubreminds the uncomfortable reality of life. Diogenes was the father figure of cynical jargon, not in just wording; he was cynical in his living as well. Anyway, I yet not sure about the length of discussion, probably it’ll continue until getting the answer that, a cynic has really slept beneath everybody’s mind or not, who are perhaps waiting for the sudden moment, burst out to mock with the imposed codes of social life.

… … …

… Sometimes it appeared essential to assess the buggy codes of life, to rectify the cliché resonance of life as well…
